SAT and ACT prep question?

I’m 20 years old and I have been out of school for 3 years now. After high school I decided I was joining the Military and after being discharged Ive decided to go to College. Unfortunately in high school I figured I would never go to college so I took neither the SAT or ACT. Back then I know I would have done well on the test but would have struggled with the Mathematics, and now that Ive been education free for three years I feel it is going to be even harder to pick it up. What should I focus on more, preparing for the SAT or the ACT mathematics? Thanks in advance.

Free Online ACT Prep Help.?

Well, I currently have a 20 on my ACT from taking it the first time. I really want a 23 on it in order to get into a summer program at my college. Do you guys know of any Good,Trusted, AND Free , Sites that could prepare me for the test?

Thanks in advance.

Which prep books should I purchase for the SAT and ACT?

This will be my second time taking both tests.

My scores: SAT 2040 (640 Cr, 680 Math, 720 Writing)

ACT: 29

What book will best prepare me? I want something that covers test strategies, covers the actual test material, and has at least 3 practice tests.

Thanks in advance!

*I want to purchase two books: one for the SAT and one for the ACT…

How to get a higher SAT score…?

I took the SAT for the second time in March and got an 1880 (680 math, 660 writing, 540 reading). The first time I took it was in June of 2006. I’m going into my junior year of high school so I don’t have much time to improve my SAT score.

What are the best methods of studying and practicing to score at least a 2100 on my next test? I don’t want to take it more than 2 more times.

And also, what is the best way of improving my vocabulary (my weakest point on the SAT)? I’m studying the words in those SAT practice books available in the library but just reading through the words isn’t helping much.

Once again, here are my questions again: What methods can I use to improve my vocabulary (flashcards, games, etc) and what’s the best way of studying/practicing for the SAT so that I can get at least a 2100 in the next two re-takes?

Please answer these two questions for me. Thanks in advance.

Should I take a SAT course or not?

I recently took the PSAT and didn’t get top-tier results but mostly average. I have heard that just because someone gets a high SAT score doesn’t mean they’re smart nor does it mean that they will get into a college of their choice for sure. So should I take a SAT course to improve the areas which I am weak in and get better at test-taking OR should I just buy an SAT book and do the work independently? Answers with explanations help! Thanks in advance!

Should I bother taking the SAT again – only to improve my essay?

I’m happy with my May SAT scores, except for my essay (CR 710, Math 670, Writing 690 with essay score of 7… to be honest, I had no idea what to write my essay on [hated the prompt]; I’m not suprised at my score.). I really don’t want to take the test again, but I need all the scholarships I can get, no matter what college I attend.

Will my essay score improve that much if I take the SAT again in October? (However, I think would like to start sending out college applications by that time – the guidance counselor at my school told us we should have sent out all our applications by the end of November.)

Thanks in advance. =)
Oh, forgot to add – I would like an essay score of at least 9 or 10. Is there any chance I could improve by that much in a few months?
Ah, sorry – one more question! =)

Do colleges even care about your essay score?

Help choosing the right ACT test prep book!?

For the first time in my life, I took the ACT test held recently on June 13th, and I got a composite score of 24, which made me think of retaking the test. To prepare for this test, I borrowed a princeton review 2006 edition from the public library, thinking that the older version of the test prep will not make any difference. For my surprise, I was wrong. Most of the questions in the ACT weren’t similar to that of the book I had used for my prep.
Realizing ACT’s fast changing style and increasing the difficulty in the test, I am willing to buy a book that is based on recent tests. Since I will retaking my test in august, I will not have much time to be prepared.
So what I am looking for is a book that will help me to increase my score to above 30 in a limited time. But I am willing to put in any amount of effort into it. Any other alternatives to help me increase my score are acceptable. Thanks in advance.

Best SAT prep books – Barron’s vs. Kaplan vs. Princeton Review…?

I’m retaking my SAT’s again and I’m borrowing books from the library like crazy. Of course, library books aren’t to keep so I’m also buying some from the bookstores. For those who have used any books for SAT prep, it would be awesome if you could share your opinion on which one’s the best.

I got 2200 on SAT’s last time, looking to go above 2300.

Thanks in advance!

How to improve SAT score?

Before we begin, let me state that I am a high-school student who is currently enrolled in honors english and french, regular history (though I was qualified for honors), and basic geometry (we don’t have honors geometry, and the only difference is that we don’t have as much of an emphasis on proofs). And I’m a freshman.
My problem is that I keep doing SAT practice online but getting really lousy scores. I just don’t get it. I understand the subjects, but I’ve never really seen questions like these before.
And this is causing me to freak out. I don’t know why, but I am. I’m at least 2 years away from the actual SAT, but all of my friends told me that the PSAT was impossible. I know that I’ll either get a tutor or take a training class before the test, but I’m freaking out.
Any advice? I already read a lot and use an extensive vocabulary. I get good grades and study very hard, but do you have any other advice?
Thanks in advance!

Should I take the TestTakers SAT prep course?

I’m a high school junior and I’m taking the SAT probably in May.
I’ve never done any PSAT or SAT prep course before, but I have taken the PSAT twice. First score was 176, second was 181.

So should I take any SAT prep course at all? TestTakers is doing a program at my school, and it’s slightly over 1k. Has anyone heard of it and can tell me if it’s worth the money? What about the Princeton Review course? How much is that one in comparison to TestTakers?
Thanks in advance. :D
