I did poorly on my ACT test I got an 18 should I worry alot and retake it?

It’s not that I am a stupid kid, I have a good gpa. and only honors and AP classes but I am not sure if I should worry too much about taking the ACT again.

Will taking the ACT test ONLY decrease my chances in getting accepted to universities in CA (pub/private)?

Okay I am in a dilemma..
Currently, I am a junior in highschool, who gets pretty decent grades (3.5 unweighted GPA first semester, aiming for 4.0 this semester..starting out with all As..right on track ) I am taking a couple of honors, AP, and regular classes. My question is that will only taking the ACT test decrease my chances into getting into universities here in California? with of the competition going around.. (Is it more SAT based or what?) I’m really scared of whats going to happen in the future.. I got a 1400 on my SATs (didn’t study really..) which is like below average..and on practice tests i would get around that same score range..I feel like I will never get a good score on the SATs..
I took the ACT test last week and I felt like I blew through that test. It seemed very easier than the SAT test..I feel more confident with what my ACT score will be , but I don’t wanna say anything until I see the actual score. Should I quit my SAT classes and switch over to ACT classes? Advice would be VERY much appreciated..

How can I improve my score on the ACT Science Test?

Hello! I am taking the ACT test again this year as part of a program for gifted students (roughly 30,000 participate; 300 receive honors). I took the test last year in seventh grade and received a composite score of 29.

I recently took a practice test out of The Real Act Prep book. I got a 33 in English, 31 in Math, 36 in Reading, and 25 in Science. I can squeeze a couple more points out of the first two on the real test, but I’d like to significantly improve my Science score. How can I answer the questions more efficiently?

Is the ACT test easier now than back in 1995?

Hey….I was just wondering if they have made the ACT exam easier now than it was back in 1995? My little brother just got done taking the ACT twice and the first score he got was a 24 and the second time he got a 25. I on the other hand, who took the ACT back in 1994/1995 managed to get 17/18. Whats going on?!

School and the SAT/ACT?

Ok so I took the SAT twice, but didn’t do very well.. (Probably due to lack of trying in School…) Being Home schooled.. Anyhow, I need some help… I got a high enough score on the SAT to get into the college I want, but I need to bring it up for a 4000 dollar scholarship from the school… It’s just for Critical Reading and Math, but if you can help with Writing as well, I will try to study that. Basically, I only got 920 between the two, which is horrible.
My Scores:

Critical Reading: 470, 480
Math: 440, 410
Writing: 470, 440

Those are the scores by 1st test then 2nd.
Now I believe the college I am going for takes the best of the two scores in Math and Reading, but either way, I would like to improve it.. I realize it would be hard, but there is no way for getting tutoring, and I believe the test is sometime in the next 3 months.. That as well as maybe taking the ACT test because I was told sometimes it is different for certain people..
Let me know your thoughts, thanks.

I don't understand the ACT?

Can someone please explain what I am doing wrong? I’ve been taking the ACT almost every single time. I’ve only missed two dates. I am a senior and the ACT is over for me. I learned that if you keeep taking it, your scores will improve. I’ve only increased my ACT composite by 3. It went from a 21 to 24 in only 3 years. I brought a book to study. I did study my brains out. Every day for two weeks before the test, I sat in library in a quiet room and did the pratice test. And every single day, I began to improve until the day before the actual test date. I took a lot of time out to study. I went from a 25 to a 31 composite. I timed myself and didn’t cheat. I also didn’t go back and do the same test questions. I did 10 ACT tests-English, Math, Science, and Reading. I followed as if it was an actual test. The only factor that was different was that I was by myself and not with people on the actual test date. I don’t understand why I am still getting a 24?
It feels like I wasted my time for studying and paying for the tests. I just don’t get it. I don’t think I was too nervous. I did all the normal things like eat a healthy diet, sleep well, and be relaxed. I did feel confident, I was sure most of my answers were correct. All the tests, I did try both ways. Try to be confident and try to be not. I tried almost every technique I could come up with. Still nothing.

Stat question on standaradized test. How high must a student score in order to place in the top 20% ?

ACT scores are distributed normally with a mean μ = 28 and a standard deviation
σ = 4.8.
How high must a student score in order to place in the top 20% of students taking the ACT test?

ACT Prep? Books, etc.?

Hey guys : ]
I’m taking the ACT in April. I took a practice test and got a 26 on it. I’m aiming for a 30. How should I prepare? I have the Princeton Review book, but I want other sources. Thanks

Also, do you think 30 is reasonable? I don’t want to reach for a score that’s impossible.

Should I send my ACT scores to my top college choices?

I am a junior taking the ACT for the first time. I expect to score a 28-32 without studying much. I will take the test many more times, but should I send scores to my top colleges so far? Are there any advantages or disadvantages?

The Best ACT Prep Book?

Im a high school junior, thinking about taking the ACT and SAT tests this year. I have a stellar reading score, but a terrible math score. I need a book that isnt just full of practice tests, but shows how to do the problems and helps you with learning them.

Also, should I take the test this year? or should i wait for next year so that I’ve gotten more classroom experience? Or should I take both?

Thank You
