Recommended novels for SAT II Lit?

Do you guys recommend reading any books (not test prep ones, novels and such) in particular to prepare for the SAT II Literature Subject test?

These are the sections tested on:

Prose Passages: primarily excerpts from fiction and essays

Poetry: primarily entire poems, although some selections are excerpted from longer works

Works written between 1700 to present

~50/50 Authors from US/British

Which class should I take?

Which class should I take?
I am going to take a class at a local college this summer. I want it to be a practical class, but also interesting. Here is the list of my narrowed-down choices:

Exploring Topics in Biology (to freshen my memory of biology in preparation for the Biology SAT Subject Test in the fall)

English (to strengthen my reading comp, writing, grammar, mechanics, etc in prepearation for the SAT in the fall)

Elementary Level German (just because I have really wanted to pursue this language)

U.S. History From 1876 to the Present (I have already taken U.S. History, but I would take this to strengthen my knoweledge for the US History SAT Subject Test in the fall)

If I had to choose a class strictly because I wanted to take it/it interests me, I would take either German or U.S. History, but I’m thinking that these would be less beneficial for me.

If it makes a difference, I already know another language other than English very well.

The real dilemma is this: the two courses that will benefit me the most (English and Biology) are the two least interesting to me. German is very interesting to me, although it will not benefit me at all for exams in the fall. U.S. History is also very interesting to me, but I have already taken that class but I would gladly take it again and it might help me for the exam in the fall. Will it look bad to colleges if I take U.S. History in school and a more intensive, post-1876 History class in the summer? Shouldn’t I take a different academic class or not necessarily?

I am really conflicted, so please try to persuade me. :) Thanks

How can I convert a percentage score to the SAT II scale?

I’ve been practicing for my French SAT subject test with a book, and have taken multiple practice test. I’d like to be able to convert my percent scores to the SAT scale to get an idea of what my score range will be. For instance, I answered 80 questions right out of 85 (got 3 wrong and omitted two) which, with the 1/3 point reduction, comes to a percentage of about 92 percent. Any ideas on how this converts to the 200-800 scale?

Some More Important SAT/SAT Subject Test Questions…?

alright, so my question is can u take the SAT 2 Subject Test(s) more than once like you can the SAT 1 and the ACT? also, when sending the scores to universities, how exactly does the "choosing" work? like say i took 2 SAT Subject Tests that i did really well in, but 1 im not satisfied with (and All on the same day)… then i take the SAME 3 a few months later and do the opposite. meaning i do good on the one i did badly in last time, and then do bad on the other 2. Would i be able to pick the 3 that i want by mixing up the tests? like choosing one from one day, and 2 from another test day? or is it like, if i send 1 i have to send ALL the others that i took on that day too? just wondering :)

I have a B in chemistry, but could I make up for it by doing well on the SAT subject test?

I want to major in something science-related in college. However, currently I have a B in my chemistry class, and I know it’s not possible to bring that up to an A by the end of the semester, seeing that the school year is almost over. But if I want to get into a competitive, reputable college, especially for a science major then they would expect me to have As in my science courses, no? So my question is can I make up for my B in chemistry by getting a high score on the chemistry SAT subject test? Would that improve my chances of getting into a school like UPenn or Cornell for a science related major? (By the way I have As in all my other classes so I hope I’m not being too ambitious).

How does the SAT world history subject test compare to the AP world history test?

I’ve signed up to take the SAT world history subject test, but I’ve been studying from Kaplan’s AP book.
How different are the tests contentwise?
And does anyone know of any places to study online?
Thank you.

SAT Subject test vs. an AP test?

I was wondering what the comparison was between the AP US test and the US history subject test in terms of difficulty. i need to find another subject test to take but I don’t know which one i should take. i took AP US last year so I was thinking that AP preparation might be enough for the subject test.

What are my chances of getting into Haverford?

Just an overview here, I have a 3.5 GPA, an SAT score of 1990 and a composite of 1310 (critical reading 730, math 580). I’m currently in an International Studies learning center, and by the time I apply I’ll have taken almost all honors and AP for all of my courses. I received a score of 4 for AP Comparative Government, a 4 in AP US History, and a 5 for AP English. I received an award called AP Scholar. This year I’m taking a few more AP courses. Additionally, I have tons of extracurricular activities (I have a worthy position in Junior Statesmen of America, a nationwide student organization dealing with government, current events, and law, I used to be on a speech and debate team, I’m involved in Open Door, which provides food, clothing, and shelter to impoverished families, I’m the Director of Fundraising for Gay Straight Alliance, and I’m involved in art club, drama set crew, and Jewish Student Union). The problem is that my grades aren’t spectacular; I have mostly B’s, a few A’s/A-’s, some B-’s and a C in Spanish. Also my class rank is 30%. I want to major in law or philosophy and minor in psychology or cognitive science. Is Haverford for me, do I have any chance of being accepted, and would taking an SAT Subject Test improve my chances? Should I even bother (I know it’s a tough school to get into)?
Thanks so much! =]
