Here’s my situation, i’m taking the SAT for the first time this October (gonna be a junior).

K, like I get really really good grades (everyone at my school thinks i’m a genius), but i can’t figure this SAT out. My parents are telling me that this is the last step before getting into an ivy leagure college or something..

I took the PSAT sophomore (and yes, i studied), and i my exact score was 189. 62 in reading, 57 in writing, and 70 in math.

Nowadays, (like i’ve taken more than 7 practice tests from books like official study guide and princeton), my score seems to near 190 STILL.

which is very very bad. I still make about a 70 in math, a 65 in writing, and a 55 in reading..!!! iono, it seems like my reading score dropped (but to tell u the truth, i got REAL lucky on the PSAT to get a 62).

so guys, experts, whatever, what should I do? I really really need at least a 2100. I used to think that i would be able to get a 2200 with some studying, but even that now seems like an unrealistic goal. Everyone i know think that i can ace the SAT without even studying…, this sucks.

help help help (oh yea, i’m self studying, don’t have the time for SAT classes and they don’t seem to help a lot of my friends)

and ps, for the reading, iono why i get a low score. i finish it on time, its just that the passages, and the vocab are hard to understand. I’ve always made an A in english… and i even studied flashcards just to improve on the reading section

I made a 29 the first time I took the ACT as a sophomore. I am going to be a junior come August. I want to score at least a 33 composite. I am already taking some free online prep, but I was wondering if you would suggest Kaplan, ACT Online, Princeton, Sylvan, or some other test prep. Also, I feel very excited to take the ACT again and want to sign up for a December or February essay test, but I do not have AP English or Trig/Pre-cal until second semester. What do you guys think?

I’m a Sophomore with a 3.5 unweighted GPA. I haven’t taken the ACT or SAT in high school yet but took the ACT in 7th grade and got a 29. I also got a 5 in AP European History, and history is my weakest subject. I plan on taking 7 more AP tests in high school. If I raise my GPA and my ACT score improves (as it should based on knowledge gained) when I take it next year, what are my chances of getting in after my senior year?

im a sophomore and i took a free practice sat a few weeks ago with zero preparation. i got a 2010 but i dont know if thats any good. i know its out of 2400, but how do most people score?

I’m a sophomore and I took AP Chemistry and AP World History this year. I’d like to take the SAT Subject tests for both of them, but I’m unsure as to if I should take it before the AP for extra "practice" or after the exam when I have a slightly firmer grasp on the material. Advice?

1. I know i am qualified for both math tests. But i heard math 1 is "useless." Would it be worthwhile for me to take both?
2. Would i be qualified to take the chem test if i am not planning to go into ap chem?
3. Would AP Euro be enough prep for the World History test? World history at my school is very basic and easy and my class, euro, only covers europe.
4. Biology E. Should i wait until after i have taken ap biology next year?
5. Are any tests "useless"

Hi,
I am a Sophomore in Highschool just starting junior year in late august and I need advice with college and act prep. I get really good grades and mounds of college letters (I have a whole box full of them that I haven’t even opened). First of all, what’s the bet way to figure out which college is going to work best for me? I get so many letters I don’t know what to do with them because they all claim to be the best. Secondly, what is the best way to prepare for the ACT test? Also, if I could get times by when these things should be done so that I can make a plan of some kind. Thanks so much for all the help!

I’m a sophomore in high school (10th grade, 2 years from final year of high school). This summer, I’ve been spending a lot of time organizing myself for college. I’m on the mailing list of seven different schools (email and home mail), I take practice SAT tests online, I know what SAT score I need to get into each college of my choice and other info, and I’ve already decided my major. My parents are a little bit put out by this, saying I need to focus on high school rather than college, but I disagree. I can do both, can’t I? Basically, I’m just wondering what you did for preparation for college, when you started looking, and if I should stop what I’m doing. Thanks!

My niece is a sophomore in H.S. For the last half of her freshman year & now this school year her grades have taken a nosedive. From A/B student to C-F student, even in favorite subjects.

Otherwise, she acts like a typical teenager. She attributes her grades to ‘the teachers don’t know how to teach.’ And during a parent teacher conference we did notice a few of the teachers had an ‘attitude’ towards her, giving the impression my niece is a smart aleck which she can be. She also seems to have no interest in her grades whatsoever. Her parents don’t think any drugs/alcohol are involved but I’ve advised them to do a urine test just in case, which they refuse.

Her parents nor I can afford tutoring. They did try tutoring through the school with one of the ‘attitude’ teachers but that didn’t improve any grades and left her more resentful towards the teacher. We’ve tried helping with homework have forgotten most of these subjects, it’s pretty much all greek to us.

Her parents will be taking her out of any honors classes for next year. Her one passion at home is music and she can spend hours at it. My brother wants to punish her for bad grades but does not know how to punish her, and does not want to take away the one thing she is showing an interest in. He’s scared taking away the music thing will backfire. Any suggestions?

im a sophomore right now and i took the psat. i didnt do too well. im not even sure how to read the darn thinganyways. when should i start studying and what are some good SAT schools i could go to. any tips would be really helpful. should i start buying thos sat books and vocab flashcards? maybe doing a sat course online.. learn latin? does that help with the vocab? what to do?! tell me what you know. and is the SAT reasoning test. isnt that the same as just SAT test? im new to this. and im really worried bout what to do. ireally want to do good on this test. does studying independent help much? or with a group. is it bad to have a high GPA but do bad on the SAT? and when should i start taking SAT 2? and AP testing. how can i study for that. i have APeuropean history.
