Here’s my situation, i’m taking the SAT for the first time this October (gonna be a junior).

K, like I get really really good grades (everyone at my school thinks i’m a genius), but i can’t figure this SAT out. My parents are telling me that this is the last step before getting into an ivy leagure college or something..

I took the PSAT sophomore (and yes, i studied), and i my exact score was 189. 62 in reading, 57 in writing, and 70 in math.

Nowadays, (like i’ve taken more than 7 practice tests from books like official study guide and princeton), my score seems to near 190 STILL.

which is very very bad. I still make about a 70 in math, a 65 in writing, and a 55 in reading..!!! iono, it seems like my reading score dropped (but to tell u the truth, i got REAL lucky on the PSAT to get a 62).

so guys, experts, whatever, what should I do? I really really need at least a 2100. I used to think that i would be able to get a 2200 with some studying, but even that now seems like an unrealistic goal. Everyone i know think that i can ace the SAT without even studying…, this sucks.

help help help (oh yea, i’m self studying, don’t have the time for SAT classes and they don’t seem to help a lot of my friends)

and ps, for the reading, iono why i get a low score. i finish it on time, its just that the passages, and the vocab are hard to understand. I’ve always made an A in english… and i even studied flashcards just to improve on the reading section

-Im hoping to take the SAT I and SAT II sometime before the end of 2007 and next year also. Thats going to be during my junior year wherei have 3 AP classes; i dont think it would bother my preparing. I took the PSAT b4, it was hard, but i think w/ more practice i can at least answer everything. Is the SAT I the same or harder? What worries me is the essay.
-How can i prepare for the SAT II test? I want to take history, english, and maybe math and science. Does anyone know how the tests are gonna be like? Is it like the ap exam? i have an idea of those.
-How can I physically and mentally prepare for a test the next day? i usually sleep 7 hours avg. and eat a light breakfast.
-I thought i was good in math and science, but it turns out i dunno much. Im really good at history, and sorta good at english. i hear SAT II has no essay writing.
-Where can i take practice tests? Do i study everything ive learned in order to prepare? My public library is usually out of practice books.
I can write really good essays, but i would need hours just to think, or it has to be really quite, in a good work place, and quite cold. Under certain circumstances, like lack of knowledge or lack of time, i write mediocre essays, like unfinished good but long essays(sometimes i write too much to finish on time)

I am going to be an upcoming sophomore and plan to take the ACT after my sophomore year and the PSAT this year. What is the best way to prep myself? Prep book? Tutor? Classes? Also, what is the best ACT or SAT prep book out there?

More detail: I hope to go to Stanford University and plan on taking a considerable amount of honors and AP classes.

I am a U.S. Citizen, but my first language was not English. My parents are from a foreign country and never was able to teach my English. I learned primarily through school and was in ESL for a while.. Reading is definitely not my strong point.

on the psat 10th grade (1st attempt) i got 162 (W:47 R: 52 M: 62)
on a practice psat test i got (W: 69 M: 64 R: 46) = 179

It does not seem I can improve my CR score but I really want to! I read and read but I just don’t get it! What are your suggestions and do you think it is still possible to get my reading score up 200 pts (~20) more or less? so i can achieve a 2000 sat score?
official psat was without practice then with some studying i got my writing up a lot more

i got 1790 on the PSAT.

so im taking classes, and

the first diagnostic test, i got a 1590.
the second one, i got a 1740.

Critical reading- 520 ):
writing- 600
math- 620

i have 8 more weeks of SAT class.

I will be taking the PSAT, SAT, and the ACT during my upcoming junior year. I want to make very high scores and qualify for National Merritt. I know that I need to work on my time and math the most, but I want to work on all subjects and cover all aspects of preparing for the tests. Do I need to take a test prep class or just read test prep books? What classes and/or books would you recommend? Any other recommendations for studying?

i am a rising junior and last year i took the psat and i got a 1680. obviously this score is not very good and i would like to improve tremendously. also i didnt practice at all when i took it, since it doesnt count in 10th grade. i havent taken the sat yet, so i dont know what kind of scores i would get on that.

but my question is: is it possible to improve your psat and sat score drastically if you practice ALOT and work extremely hard? maybe like 300-400 pts?

i am willing to put forth as much effort as i need, but ive heard many people say that practice doesnt help you improve alot, and it is pointless to try.

i would like to get atleast 2000 on my first sat test i take… is it possible if i work extremely hard?
