What is the best way to prepare for the SAT< ie which course, Kaplan, Princeton review?

I have looked up Kaplan, Princeton Review, and SylvanPrep, and have pretty much narrowed it down to pick between those three. OF those which one would you pick to prepare for the 0ct 14 2006 test, and why? Please be detailed, provide details from your own experience, and provide pros/cons. Also, what books would be ideal to supplement the course in my free month of August? I have heard a great deal about Princeton Review books and the College board guide, but are they actually helpful? Again, please provide details from personal experience and pros/cons and perhaps suggestions I may have not heard of yet. As always, I will handpick the winner of the 10 points on the factors of quality, length, and fulfillment of the entire question. Thank you in advance for your time and thought.

What would be the absolute best ACT prep book to ensure a high score?

As of right now, I am using the Princeton Review Cracking the ACT Book, and it has been very helpful. I also have the Princeton Review 1296 ACT Questions book, and I am doing very well on the practice exams they have in there. I’m scoring anywhere from about 29-33 in all subjects of the ACT, but I’m just wondering, is there an even better book out there with better, more accurate results/questions then the Princeton Review. I konw about the Real ACT book (or red book as sometimes called) and I am definitely planning on getting it and taking the exams in it as a final test to see how my results on the actual ACT will look. I’m just curious to konw if maybe Barron’s ACT book is better, or maybe even Kaplan’s ACT book? Please help me.

Thank you in advance.

Which SAT/ ACT review class is better?

I am looking into SAT/ ACT review classes. I am evaluating Princeton Review and Kaplan. Both cost about the same.

Has anyone had any experience with these review courses to know which one is better in terms of improving test scores and helping the student in their weak areas or just overall?

Anybody take the Princeton Review SAT course?

Is anyone currently taking or have taken a SAT course from the Princeton Review. Can you give me some feedback? How the course was? Successes from it?

What are some good ACT practice books?

Like, good practice books with just tests that are very similar to ACT tests. I got screwed over with SAT Princeton Review test book because most of the questions were unfamiliar and had far too many errors.

Also, does anyone know of any good workbooks? Books with just math, science, reading and writing? I’m using the Math/Science workbook from Kaplan now and it has TONS of errors.

I heard Mcgraw Hill has excellent practice tests and good math workbooks. Can anyone help a sista out?

I want to go to a good law school and score high on the LSAT?

Hello. I am 17-years-old and just graduated high school. I will be attending the University of California, Santa Barbara this fall and will be majoring in Political Science with a minor in Philosophy and possibly Sociology. I plan to set up a Pre-Law program.

I have accomplished a lot in high school. I graduated high school an AP Scholar with Honors and made a rousing speech. I graduated at the top of my AP classes. I understand though that college is different from this.

I have aspirations to go to an Ivy League law school. I understand that the two most important things in admissions to an Ivy League law school like Harvard Law is GPA and LSAT. I will work my butt off in college to get the highest grades possible, covering the GPA. However, it is the LSAT I am a little worried about.

I understand that to get into an Ivy League law school, you should get 170+ possibly 175+ on the LSAT. I read that this is in the 98th percentile.

I have nothing to do this summer. I do not begin college until the fall. My friend got a near perfect score on the SAT and he told me he had studied that for 2 years. So I figured I can apply the same strategy to the LSAT so, I bought the "Cracking the LSAT" from the Princeton Review (Because the Princeton Review guides has served me well on my AP classes). However, looking into it, the LSAT looks much more difficult than I imagined.

My question is how can I best prepare for the LSAT? I know I should self-study a prep book like the one I bought but I should also take a course. Where can I take a course? Where do I even get started? Should I even worry about the LSAT right now?

What is the best plan of action to prepare for the LSAT so I can get a 170+ in the future?

(please answer!)Are the Princeton Review SAT practice test generally harder than the Sat and other prep books?

Are the Princeton Review SAT practice test generally harder than the Sat and other prep books?
I took the Barron’s 2400 practice test and I got a score in the range of 1450-1520. I got a 1580 on the PSAT. I took the PR sat practice test and I got a 1210!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!… I’m so annoyed. Now I really dont know where I stand in terms of SAT performance.

How can I drastically improve my SAT score? Please help!!?

The first time I took it was in Janurary, and honestly, I didn’t do any practice tests (I just went over a Kaplan study guide):
Critical Reading: 510
Math: 590
Writing: 530
Total: 1630

I took it again in May, and this time I took 4 practice tests from the Princeton Review, and for those, I got at least 2000s. I heard that the questions from Princeton Review are easier than the actual SAT, and my scores seem to prove this:
Critical Reading: 540
Math: 650
Writing: 610
Total: 1800

My scores are extremely disappointing, because I have been working my butt off at school, earning me a weighted GPA of 4.3 by the end of junior year. I am aiming for the top schools, my first choice being Duke University. I’m an international student, so I know that the colleges will expect a lower score from me than they will from American citizens, but I also need financial aid so I need to get the highest score possible (at least 2000).

Since I am very satisfied with my extracurriculars and GPA, it is very disappointing that my SAT score drags it down.

I bought a College Board study guide and I plan to go through the whole book this summer.

I am pretty good at math, but I just can’t seem to get the hard questions on the SAT correct. I’m supposing it’s because of text anxiety, since I get really nervous on tests, especially for math. At my math level, I should be getting perfect scores.

As for Critical Reading, I really don’t know how to improve it. I suppose my vocabulary is quite weak for the SATs since the I struggle the most for the sentence completion questions. Is memorizing vocabulary words the only way to improve my score? I am required to read 6 assigned books for the summer, so I’m guessing that should help my reading comprehension?

I am really aiming for at least a 2000, and I’m thinking of taking it a third (and final) time in October or December. Which do you think will be a better time for me to take it? I can’t take it in November since I’m taking the listening test. The only thing about taking it in December is that I won’t be able to apply for early decision. Should I give that up and have an extra 2 months by take it in December? Also, do colleges take the best individual scores from the 3 times I take it and add them up or not? Please help!!!

ACT Prep? Books, etc.?

Hey guys : ]
I’m taking the ACT in April. I took a practice test and got a 26 on it. I’m aiming for a 30. How should I prepare? I have the Princeton Review book, but I want other sources. Thanks

Also, do you think 30 is reasonable? I don’t want to reach for a score that’s impossible.
