realllyyy need help on SAT practice…!!!

Here’s my situation, i’m taking the SAT for the first time this October (gonna be a junior).

K, like I get really really good grades (everyone at my school thinks i’m a genius), but i can’t figure this SAT out. My parents are telling me that this is the last step before getting into an ivy leagure college or something..

I took the PSAT sophomore (and yes, i studied), and i my exact score was 189. 62 in reading, 57 in writing, and 70 in math.

Nowadays, (like i’ve taken more than 7 practice tests from books like official study guide and princeton), my score seems to near 190 STILL.

which is very very bad. I still make about a 70 in math, a 65 in writing, and a 55 in reading..!!! iono, it seems like my reading score dropped (but to tell u the truth, i got REAL lucky on the PSAT to get a 62).

so guys, experts, whatever, what should I do? I really really need at least a 2100. I used to think that i would be able to get a 2200 with some studying, but even that now seems like an unrealistic goal. Everyone i know think that i can ace the SAT without even studying…, this sucks.

help help help (oh yea, i’m self studying, don’t have the time for SAT classes and they don’t seem to help a lot of my friends)

and ps, for the reading, iono why i get a low score. i finish it on time, its just that the passages, and the vocab are hard to understand. I’ve always made an A in english… and i even studied flashcards just to improve on the reading section :(

please help..anyone. thanks!

Is it possible to get an 1800 on the SATs without enrolling into expensive classes/tutoring sessions?

I’m a high 80 avg student. I was wondering if it is possible for me to get an 1800 without taking Kaplan/Princeton etc. SAT prep courses. Is it possible for me to get around an 1700-1800 studying with only SAT books at home?

What would you suggest for ACT preparation?

I made a 29 the first time I took the ACT as a sophomore. I am going to be a junior come August. I want to score at least a 33 composite. I am already taking some free online prep, but I was wondering if you would suggest Kaplan, ACT Online, Princeton, Sylvan, or some other test prep. Also, I feel very excited to take the ACT again and want to sign up for a December or February essay test, but I do not have AP English or Trig/Pre-cal until second semester. What do you guys think? :)

Princeton?

Well I’m 12 years old and I’m a straight A student and I’m going to 7th grade. It has always been my dream to go to Princeton. How can you get in? What score do you have to get on the SAT? What are some kind of preparation sites that I can go to? My plan is to study over the summer each year till 12 grade so I can be ready. Also what clubs can I get into that will look good on my application? Any of you who took the SAT was it hard? How much money do you have to pay to get in? I’m planning to get a job and save up money and whatever is left over my mom can pay off. How do you get a scholar ship? Also any of you who went to Princeton is the work really really hard if so can you give me some tips? Thankyou very much if you answered this, I really appreciated it.!

What is the best SAT prep book that aids you in getting a highest score?

I have wondered what the answer is, and so far I came up with:

1.Princeton Rewiev
2. Kaplan’s
3.Barrons
4. and College Board

Can anybody tell me which book has the hardest test questions, and a good section for helping preparation for writing essays, reading comprehension, and vocabulary?

What are the best review books for the SAT subject test for Literature?

I’m taking the October 10 SAT Lit. I took a practice test in the Kaplan review book and got a 700…But I’ve heard that all Kaplan books are easier than the actual tests and don’t prepare you as well, so I definitely want more practice from other books.

Any advice for studying a month beforehand?
Examples of review books: Kaplan, Princeton Rev, Barron’s, etc.

Please list any sources if you got your information from a site rather than personal experience.
Thanks :)

What schools could I get into right now with an SAT score of 1880?

I finished 8th grade in June and took an SAT practice test. I scored 1880, is that good? I want to get into an Ivy League, Princeton, Harvard, Stanford isn’t an Ivy League but I still want to go. On the track I’m on right now, is that a possibility?

Is 2240 a bad SAT score?

I’m from India and I hope to study in the United States (for undergrad). I took the SAT, virtually without any formal preparation and scored 2240. I’d be applying to Harvard, MIT, Princeton and the likes.

To gain insight, I went to this site called "College Confidential" and there people act like 2240 is a totally worthless score and they really appear rude.

I’d take it again but is 2240 a worthless score?

Why do people always think that just because a student gets into an Ivy League school, they are smart?

I was recently accepted into Yale and they had this program for our newspaper where they gathered up kids who were accepted into the Ivies in our county (district). There were about 12 kids total, 10 from private schools and 2 from public schools (me being one of them). Now whenever my parents tell people that I am going to Yale, people all of a sudden start telling me "oh my god you must be bright" and often everyone wants to sit down and have a conversation with me about politics and my opinion on things that concern the nation (Healthcare and what we should do to create more jobs).

I am going to be honest here, I am not a moron but in NO way am I even beyond intelligent, maybe a little above average at best. The only way I was able to get into an Ivy was through pure luck. So I had the opportunity to talk to the other 11 kids who made it to the Ivies. I assumed that they were all going to be geniuses beyond my league, well here are some things I hear from them.

1. "Dude I only made it to Harvard because the high school I went to did not have a tough grading system, if teachers liked you, you made an A in the classes".
2. "Yea, I made it into Princeton because my parents paid for prep courses so I could score high on the SAT. I took it about 6 times, made a 1540 the first time and the 6th time around I made a 2230".
3. "Like I was lucky to make it into Brown, I only made it in because I played on the football team, teachers liked me so I had a high GPA and parents hired a tutor so I could perform well on the SATs".
4. "Yea man I made into Cornell because like my dad had me do research with this old guy over the summer and it looked good on my resume. I mean, I am happy, now my mom even lets me watch Porn without throwing a fit". (I coughed).
5. "I can’t even freaking believe that people think we are bright, I mean we are just people who know somebody, do our work in school and don’t sleep through classes."

So I had the opportunity to talk to those kids and I was stunned. Most did not even know the basics and a lot of them could not even debate efficiently on topics involving politics.

Why in god’s name do people think kids who get into Ivies are smart?
