Can I get into MIT??

I really want to go to MIT ( i do have other colleges in mind ).I started taking high school classes in 7th which were extra curric and language. Currently I’ve completed 2 math classes all honors ( Algebra 1and geometry),3 histories 1 honors two AP , 3 and a half Sciences ( Earth Science , Chem, physics, and half biology all honors ( Don’t ask why half bio it happened to most of my class) ,Latin 1,2,and 3 honors, and 3 choir classes and two arts .Next year im taking 3 AP’s ( Bio , English Comp, and Psychology) and im taking Honors Algebra/Trig. This year im a junior and my freshman year my grades where a’s and b’s and sophomore it def wasn’t as good . This year i plan on getting All A’s if possible and getting high scores on the ACT and SAT subject test. Ive been faithful to choir until this year and i have volunteered by tutoring my freshman year and i guess another extra curric is Graphic Design which i took last year and this year as well. Please tell me if i have a chance to get in and if it helps my estimated ACT score is 26 and that’s when i was majorly almost dying sick, also tell me what i need to work on . Thanks. oh and my GPA was a 3.7 but now its a 3.2 which i will get up again .

SAT and SAT subject tests preparation?

Hi, I live in the UK and am seriously considering going to college in the US. I know I will have to take the SATs and was wondering:
a. How do they compare to A-Levels? I need to take Maths II and a science SAT for the places I’m interested in. How do these compare to AS level sciences and maths? I have looked on the collegeboard website but it is hard to judge from the limited number of questions.
b. What (if any) study guides people would recommend? — for the reasoning SAT as well as the subject tests.

I would really appreciate answers from people in the UK who have taken the SATs particularly Maths II, Physics or chemistry and studied these saubjects at A-level. But any opinions from people who’ve taken the tests would be great. Thanks =)

Should I apply to Stanford?

GPA UW = 3.1 (a lot of hnrs and ap classes)

SAT 2400 ACT 36 and 800s on 6 subject tests (Bio, Chem, Eng. Lit, French w/listening, Math 2, Physics)

I realized my GPA wasn’t stellar so I tried making up with perfect SAT and etc. test through tutoring,

EC: volunteering at an elderly institution and local hospital, plus president of largest volunteering club on campus, (realy enjoy volunteering)

violin — playing for years, and 1st in international competition

dance — 1st in a state and national competition

what colleges should I be looking at?

I’m looking to major in economics, as preparation for law school post-grad.

These are my stats (as of end of junior year)

ACT 35, class rank 5th, 3.9 unweighted GPA

No SAT or SAT II’s yet, 5’s on 4 AP tests (LangComp, Calc BC, Physics B, US His)

Class President, student council, 1st chair trombone in wind ensemble + band president, thespian, debate team captain, nhs president

How does the SAT 2 Physics Subject Test compare to the practice tests for it?

I’ve scored an approximated 700 on the Princeton Review practice test for physics 2009-2010, but I’m wondering how accurate it is with the actual test.

Additionally, are there any practice tests out there that have been proven accurate?

Questions on ACT and SAT testing?

Ok so I am a Junior at Carmel High School in CA; and I am planning on taking my SAT and ACT very soon for the first time. I am currently enrolled in Geometry, and Physics. I understand that their is a large amount of Algebra II material on both tests. Should I just take the SAT and ACT than retake it my senior year after I take Algebra II at MPC (a community college) of what.

SAT Preparation Doubt?

I’m not much familiar with the procedures of SAT. And, I’m not an American resident. So, I have this doubt.

@ Are Physics & Chemistry there for the exam ?
@ Or is it just Maths ?
@ Why the hell are they checking our language skills too much when we are looking for Engineering and pure science-oriented learning ?

P.S: I don’t believe that one needs to critically analyse Shakespearean poetry to become an engineer. Thats awkward. :(

on the ACT test… what sciences do they ask questions about? on the science section?

like biology, physics, chemistry…. what do they ask about?

SAT preparation books in India?

What are the best books to prepare for SAT in India?
For subject SAT, I would like to know about the books available for Physics,Maths 1 and Maths 2.
I want to know about the most widely used books.

I’m a high school freshman…SAT scores?

I took a practice SAT test over the summer at home and I got an 1860. I was wondering if this is a good start, especially since I haven’t taken geometry yet?

I don’t remember the exact scores for each section, though I know I got a 730 on the English section. Yea, I know about the whole ‘I should be in geometry right now’ thing, but I have no clue why they put me in algebra. Fortunately, I am taking it as a summer course to progress into Accelerated Algebra II & Trig.

Anyways, I was wondering if I could improve this score considerably, seeing as I haven’t even begun geometry yet. I think I will begin with two AP classes next year (AP Euro and AP French Lit.) but I was hoping if anyone could tell me if I’m on the right track so far?

I would really like to go to Yale for journalism and current issues in the modern world (intn’l affairs) while maybe dabbling in physics, for which I have great interest. Am I good so far? My grades are all A’s except for a B+ in Art I which is minor.
