How effective do you think the Collegeboard Official SAT Online Course is?

I am a junior in high school taking the SAT this march and I have been trying to study by myself to save money. On recent practice tests, I have gotten scores like 1850/1860 and my goal for my first attempt at the SAT is above a 1950 [getting above a 1950 means my parents will let me go on vacation with my friend's family this summer!]. I just enrolled in this online course a couple days ago and I have three weeks to improve my grade. My breakdown was as follows: Critical Reading- Writing- 650 and Math-650. I feel like i should be able to get at least around a 750 in math because I’m in Calculus, so maybe i was just having a bad day. Do you think the Collegeboard Online SAT course will help me or should i do something else? Also, what other ways are good to study at this point? Please take some time to answer. Thank you!

How hard is the ACT test?

Okay so i’m sixteen years old and a sophomore. I’m homeschooled and my parents are making me take the ACT this year. I’m so nervous because all my friends tell me its really hard. My friend who is a junior took it and got a 20. He’s one of the smartest people I know. Money is hard so I need to get a good score on the ACT to try to get a scholarship. Also how many times can you take the ACT a year? Are you only allowed to take it once? Or as many times as you want?

How can I help my daughter improve her reading speed?

I don’t have a lot of money to spend on tutors or fancy programs to assist. She loves to read, just wants to read faster. She recently took the ACT, and because of her reading speed, she was not able to finish the test and ended up only getting a 24. She is in tears, because she really believes she could have done better, if only she could read faster! any ideas?

confusing question about the ACT test?

Is it possible for me to send scores AFTER I see them, without any additional charge?

I signed up a couple weeks ago and I filled in the colleges I wanted my scores sent to. Now I think that I should change that and not have my scores sent out untill after I see how I did.

I dont want to send my score before I see it but if it’s gonna cost money to send it later then I’m gonna send it beforehand.

So will it cost me additional money afterwards or is it included in the "4 free college reports" that they say you are given when you sign up?

What is a placement test and what kind of questions are there?

I got kicked out of a private school because we owed them money and we didnt have the money to pay them.
I am a 9th grade and I am trying to register for a public high school.
They wanted my transcripts but my private school wont give them to us cause we owe them money.
So now I have to take this some kind of 8th grade placement test and if I pass it i just continue in 9th grade where i left off.

So I was wondering what kind of questions do they have on a placement test? Is it kinda like an SAT or ACT test?

Im not rly sure and i rly want to pass because i rly dont want to repeat 2 grades.
Can someone please explain? Im kinda nervous hoping ill pass. = |

I am going to be a junior next year and I am PETRIFIED of the SAT.?

I am going to be taking the SAT II math, chemistry, and maybe physics. I am aspiring to become a pharmacist. All throughout my high school career I have been a good student, I have received all As in my classes and I did especially well in Chemistry, Algebra I and II, and Geometry (which I received a 99% average). But I am afraid that I may have forgotten most of Geometry (since I took it in such a short period of time at a summer class covering a years worth of geometry in 5 weeks) and some formulas in Chemistry. I am pretty sure I will do fine in physics because I am great with formulas and math so I am considering taking the Physics II test. I really want to get a 2000+ score, now I know that is not a walk in the park and it requires months of prepping. What is the best way to prep? Should I get a tutor or take prep classes? My parents don’t mind the money and really are pressuring me to get a high score and I am afraid that me forgetting much of geometry might ruin that. I catch on really quickly and I can remember stuff so I think private tutoring of predatory classes might help. Which would help me better to receive my scores? Oh and I am also taking English of course but I always did well with english.

My dad, in particular, is really being very pressing on the SAT…how can I cope?

I’m preparing for the SAT a year early with intense math tutoring and I’m going through the book (English-wise) and I’m very serious about both of these things–obviously…the tutoring and the book cost money so I’m going to take advantage of both of those.
Anyway, my dad is being VERY pressing about the SAT. Any chance there is to talk about it–he will. And he’ll bring up my mediocre-ish scores on the PSAT as well as on an evaluative test for the SAT/ACT that I took.
Point in case–I visited a college campus recently and began talking about it casually…just commenting on how big it was, or what not etc…to this he feels inclined to say: "Well, I wouldn’t…just concentrate on right now. I mean, the scores..your scores were on the lower end. If you don’t do something to bring them up, you’re just setting yourself up for disappointment."
How can I deal with this and find some confidence in myself? Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.
*It is key to note that for both my evaluative exams and the PSAT there were extenuating circumstances in place to account for my scores. I have a solid GPA, extracurriculars etc.

Do colleges see all SAT or ACT test scores?

I just took the SAT for the second time.
I sent my scores to different colleges compared to when I took it the first time.
If I happen to do better the second time, will the colleges I chose from the first test see the results, or would I have to re-send them a score report (which would cost more money)?

can "special ed" kid be tutored by own sister?

My friend has a little brother who is supposedly "special." But she does not think he is. Her parents have extremely high expectations for all their kids and her little brother was born with one of his vocal cords damaged so her father wanted him put in special education because his voice was really different. She said that her dad was embarrased by his son and told him every time they went in to get a check-up on his progress that he needed to "act stupid" so he could get benefits. He’s 17 now and since his parents have really delayed his progress, he’s only at a second grade level. He accidentally told my friend what their parents were doing and my friend is furious. She says she thinks it’s wrong for them to have exploited her brother just for money. My friend says her brother is not slow. She’s seen him work before and the only different thing about him is his voice. She wants to start tutoring him in many subjects and try to get him caught up because he would like to go to college. Is it okay for her to tutor him even though she’s not really an expert?? She’s in college. Can she have her brother re-tested after the tutoring to see if he really is "special"?? We’re all a bit confused…she confronted her parents and they don’t really care…they just keep saying that everyone will get to use the money that comes…
