Do any one have any secrets or tips on getting a high score on the ACT?

I have taken the ACT 3 times and I am about to for the fourth. I have gotten the same score 3 times in a row and it is kind of low, especially for someone with my kind of grades and the classes that I take. I am getting really discouraged and this is almost my last time to take it before it is too late for scholarships and college admissions. I want to know about ANYTHING that can help!!!! Are there any special disks, software, books, classes, tutorials, etc that could help me? Is there anything that can help me? Is there anything that I can do on the test, other than my best, that will help me? One person told me that when the time runs out she marks all of her answers of one letter. If anyone has some tips like that, I really would like to know.

how reliable is a sat practice test score?

i just took the official sat practice test and got a 2140, which is the highest i’ve ever gotten so far. (last time i took was about two months ago and i got a 2020)… so does that mean my score will only go up?? will it ever go down? i feel pretty confident, because my reading and writing scores have been really consistent and my math score just went up 100 to 760… what do you guys think? how reliable are these prep tests?
also are ivy league schools within my reach provided that i have good ec’s, good gpa, essay, recommendation and a higher sat score, since i’m only a rising junior..

SAT's – What is the best way to take the next step up to the elite level?

I have halfway decent SAT scores, take a look:
March 07: CR 640, Math 680, Writing 640 (1960)
May 07: CR 680, Math 660, Writing 690 (2030)

I am happy about the 70 pt increase, with no real studying/extra prep. My scores are sufficient to get into most of the schools on my list, but I want to make the grade for UPenn, so I can major in business in college.

The real dillemma is should I take time to independently study, or should i dish out the 900 dollars to take a summer prep course? I feel like a prep course (princeton review or kaplan) would guide me better towards my goal of breaking 2100. If I studied on my own, it wouldn’t feel thorough, and i feel i’d get less out of it, in relation to the time i’d spend studying. I want my scores to break the elite plain, when I retake the test for the last time in Oct. What are your experiences with either, and which is better overall?

BTW, I play 3 sports (cap’n for 1), and am a member of NHS, and have a 3.8 ish GP

Best SAT prep books – Barron’s vs. Kaplan vs. Princeton Review…?

I’m retaking my SAT’s again and I’m borrowing books from the library like crazy. Of course, library books aren’t to keep so I’m also buying some from the bookstores. For those who have used any books for SAT prep, it would be awesome if you could share your opinion on which one’s the best.

I got 2200 on SAT’s last time, looking to go above 2300.

Thanks in advance!

I need some advice about going back to college?

A couple of years ago I attended a local community college. The last time that I attended college was in 2005. There are two reasons why I stop attending the community college. First, the tutoring services that they offer is very limited. The second reason why is the major that I am thinking about pursuing they don’t offer. I would really like to go back to college to get my degree. I have been thinking about transerring to a four year college or university. What I need the advice about is the following. Should I go back to the community college and complete my degree or should I transfer to a four year college or university? Since I didn’t take the sat or act back in high school is there any way that I could take those tests if I did decide to go to a four year college? Or is it better for me to take the clep?

Best way to study for the SAT?

I’m taking the SAT for the second time November 1st, and I’d like to hear some ideas on how to study for it. Last time I took it I got the following scores with zero preparation:

Verbal: 600
Math: 550
Writing: 530
Total of 1740

It had been a long time since my last math class, and I was really unprepared for the math questions I encountered. Do you know of any book I could buy, or any plan of action I could take to raise these scores? I would like to specifically study the things that will be on the test (ie, I don’t want to go study my pre-calculus homework if that won’t even be on the test). Same goes for the other scores (verbal and reading).

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as well as any other advice regarding admission to West Point. (How high I need to score, etc).

Thanks Randall E. In case you didn’t notice the goal of this question was not to brag about my scores, but to find out how to improve them.

That being the case, I really don’t need your commentary on my previous scores.
