This year I would have been a senior at a high school in New York City. I dropped out of my junior year of high school with a 98.9% GPA. A few months ago I finished my G.E.D. and will be attending community college this fall. I want to transfer to a good college in New York City (NYU, Hunter, etc). My only problem — sometimes I score really badly in standardized tests.

I took the ACT and had a overall score of 17.
English: 20
Mathematics: 17
Reading: 15
Science: 14

SAT score:
English: 780
Math: 340 (TERRIBLE!!!)

I am DEVOTED in changing my scores around this fall so I can go to a good college. I did try tutors last year but they didn’t work very well (everything just went in one ear and out the other). Do you guys have any tips (good books, study habits) I could use to achieve these goals of mine??? I won’t stop! I won’t stop!

Hi I have a quick question, which is the best one for me to take before I go to college, I have been applying to colleges and I need to take the test but not sure which one is best, I was homeschooled. Also which ever one I need to take before college, can anyone recommend some good books to get so I can start studying?

i need to prep for the crticial reading and composition for the SATs. my issue is that i have not gotten ANY of my books yet. math ill be fine for, but i need the other two sections for a good score. help me find the best book/course/tutor for it? thanks! any experience would be very helpful. Also, i need to buy SATII books for Biology, UShistory, and French. if you could recommend good books for that too, it would be amazing!

I just recently took a diagnostic test (first practice SAT), and I want to know how I can convert my raw score into a real score.

These were my scores:

Writing Section – 27.5
Critical Reading Section – 43.25
Math Section – 35.5
Essay Score – 4

BTW, I am hoping to improve this score, to receive a 2400, and I would like to know of some good books that provide strategies, and grammar drills. I don’t need more practice SATs.

Yea I just got done taking my PLAN test (sophomore) and i got the results back already. I can say that i am really disappointed and not at all impressed. My score was a 21 out of 32 points, which isn’t a terrible score, but definately not something for me, since i do avg a 4.0ish atleast per quarter. The PLAN is just a prep act for sophomores and now ik what i need to improve on, i was wondering what are some real good books for the act so i cant start studying extra early and get a good score on it.

I just took the December test and received a score of 24. I have The Real ACT Prep Guide, and I bought the Cracking The ACT by Princeton Review. It should be on its way here. Any other good books out there to help me? I am wanting to shoot for at least a 28. Plus, is a 24 horrible?
