Can I get into Rutgers New Brunswick? ?

As a freshman I had a 2.65 GPA with 1 honors. As a sophomore I had a 2.69 GPA also with 1 honors. Now as a junior, I am taking 2 AP’s, zero honors, and have a 3.73 GPA which will probably stay where its at. On the SAT’s I got a 1750 and that was without any preparation. If I can get a 2000 on the SAT’s, can I get into Rutgers New Brunswick? I live in NJ, I have over 200 hours of community service, I have done xc all 3 yrs however I don’t plan on doing it next year, I am involved in 5 different clubs, and I plan on adding jv basketball to the sports I did this year. Also, where can I go to sign up for college visits at Rutgers New Brunswick? Thank you for the help, as always best answer gets 10 points!

PS. The GPA’s are weighted.

I am getting ready to be a freshman in high school next year. I want something to do this summer to help keep my brain rolling during the summer, instead of just watching TV all the time. Is this stuff too difficult for a 9th grader? I have always gotten straight-A’s, and have always gone above and beyond what is expected. Please let me know if you have any type of review or feedback on this product. Or of any others similar.

How can I improve my readability on my essay?

Right now I have a 7.9. I need a 9.0 readability. Any words you would substitute? Please help!? :)

As each new school year begins, I always try to place my expectations of my self a little bit higher. Coming into ninth grade, I had many goals I wanted to achieve. One of those goals was to read each book we study in class at least twice. I set this objective because I find I score higher grades on tests and overall have a greater understanding of the book. So far I have done this. Another aspiration for the new school year was to earn an A in english. Although I did not meet this goal first quarter, I was four points away. My third goal I planned was to advantage of every academic opportunity. As they say, "Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try." I feel I have taken advantage of most opportunities presented to me. For example, even though study guides are not taken for a grade I have always used them in preparation for quizzes and tests. The standardized The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test was available for freshman to take. Although it was not required, I chose to take it. It helped me see where I stand academically and gave me some practice for the SAT. These goals and aspirations have helped me progress through the year.
To begin with, I now realize my strengths. One of which and probably the most important is my love of reading. I am eternally grateful to my mother for instilling that passion for reading inside of me by reading to me every night. My theory is that a student can have the best punctuation and grammar in the school, but until they have a love for what they are learning they will go nowhere with it. Another one of my strengths is reading comprehension. This skill has always come easily to me as I used to read all of the time. One of the reasons reading comprehension is one of my strengths is that I enjoy a broad variety of book. For example, I enjoy reading newspapers, fiction, magazines, and autobiographies. My third strength is visualization. Being a visual learner, I often find myself imagining what a character or setting in a book looks like. I can put myself in a character’s place and reality melts away.
In addition to, although I know my strengths, I also recognize my weaknesses. One of those weaknesses is a mediocre vocabulary. Up until eighth grade, I always scored in the ninety five percentile area in reading. I suppose I grew complacent and stopped reading for enjoyment; my vocabulary got put on the back burner. This could be fixed over time simply by my picking up a book. A developed vocabulary is an important asset to have in the adult world and I want to make sure I equipped with one. Another weakness I have is that I have a difficult analyzing a book and its characters. Being used to years of reading teachers giving quizzes on what happened in the book rather than what the actions meant, this skill is fairly new to me. I hope to work on this weakness, make it stronger so noting literary devices and reoccurring themes will become second nature. I also have a challenging time with speaking up and discussing in class. I have made big improvements in this area and plan to continue to do so. Last year, my language arts teacher made us read all of our personal essays aloud to the class. Although it was an experience I never want to relive, I am grateful for it because it did make me more comfortable with public speaking.
Lastly, after assessing my strengths and weaknesses, I have made more goals for second semester. These improvements will play up my strong points and develop my weaknesses. Next semester I am going to participate in class discussions more, whether they are about Lord of the Flies or any other book we are reading at the time. I believe this will help increase my understanding of the book’s plot and its characters. Another goal I set is to block out thirty minutes of extra time for english whether I have homework or not. During this time I will read a novel I would like to read or improve my vocabulary by writing down new words in a journal. In middle school I did the minimum amount of homework. I did not ever study for quizzes or tests and still pulled of As. I now realize that this class takes more effort than just doing the daily assigned homework. This goal is also applicable to my other classes. My third goal is to manage my time more efficiently. As the saying goes, "Time waits for no man". Coming into high school, I was not sure what to expect. I found myself getting burned out more and more. Not wanting that to happen again this coming semester, I planned some ways to manage my time better. Over the holiday break I spent a lot of my time organizing my planner, binders and room. It was hard to be efficient last semester as I felt I spent a great load of time hunting for homework, projects, and other important papers. So far I have noticed that managing my busy schedule has been considerably
And the prompt is:

Reflect on the work you have completed in this class to date. What did you do well? What could you have done better?

Write a multi-paragraph essay analyzing your performance in this class. Discuss your strengths and weaknesses and your goals for improvement. Be sure to include examples and details to support your reflection.

Should I even apply to Columbia University?

I am currently a rising Junior from Nebraska, so I hope that being from NE will give me some bonus points as far as geographic diversity.

I have a 4.0 unweighted GPA, and will be taking 7 AP classes by the time I graduate. I am ranked 1st out of 325 in my class. I have not taken the ACT/Subject Tests yet, but I am projected to get a 30-33 on the ACT.

As far as extracurriculars, I did a People to People Leadership Summit on International Diplomacy, I am a Freshman Mentor, National Honor Society, two other clubs, Junior Class Board, Student Council, Teen Court Judge, I volunteer at a hospital (so far, 75 hours, but I will continue until graduation), and I will begin tutoring when this school year starts.

I also have a job that I have had for over a year, and I plan on keeping it until I graduate.

I already have two teachers who I know will write me great recommendations.

So, assuming I get a 30-33 on my ACT, do I even have a chance, or should I lessen my expectations?

Thanks
To the one poster about liberals: I, personally, am an independent, but Nebraska has a long tradition of being very Republican.
Again to that poster: I think I will apply to Princeton, based on the responses I’ve seen here.

Is a 1640 score on the SAT good as a freshman?

I am a freshman in high school and my parents made me take the SAT without any preparation and I scored a 1640. I have no idea what this means, and I have no else in my grade to base my score on.

Best ways to prepare for the SATs and ACT?

Can you list every tip that will help do good (I’m a freshman)…I mean I know to get the SAT and ACT prep book and practice, read books of higher level, reading the dictionary, possibly tutoring if affordable but what else is there?

How to improve SAT score?

Before we begin, let me state that I am a high-school student who is currently enrolled in honors english and french, regular history (though I was qualified for honors), and basic geometry (we don’t have honors geometry, and the only difference is that we don’t have as much of an emphasis on proofs). And I’m a freshman.
My problem is that I keep doing SAT practice online but getting really lousy scores. I just don’t get it. I understand the subjects, but I’ve never really seen questions like these before.
And this is causing me to freak out. I don’t know why, but I am. I’m at least 2 years away from the actual SAT, but all of my friends told me that the PSAT was impossible. I know that I’ll either get a tutor or take a training class before the test, but I’m freaking out.
Any advice? I already read a lot and use an extensive vocabulary. I get good grades and study very hard, but do you have any other advice?
Thanks in advance!
