College Math Placement Exam/ ACT?

I have been a student with ADD for a very long time. I recently started taking meds for it my senior year of high school. During the time I had a hard time testing and found the medicine helps me focus and perform good. I always work a little slower pace. So I took a pre-ACT test and scored a composite score of 27. Not that great. But I guess ok for a student with a hard time. I wasn’t registered for extended time for my ADD( i never filed for it) I never wanted to feel like I was slow or different. Now for the question, I recently took the ACT. In my math department I scored a 25. What level of college math would I be on with that subscore?? I was supposed to take a college placement exam and I did twice and it was lost from the school system. The lady said I could use my ACT math score to place me in a class. I was just wondering if you guys could answer what class would I be in?

FYI: The ADD thing I stated was because I don’t need to hear about how low my score was.

ACT Writing Test Score- How does it impact your overall Composite Score?

Does the writing score (1-12) affect your overall composite score (either helping it or worsening it) or does it have NO affect on it?

Does anyone know for sure?

Is it worth taking if it only helps your score, or can you get a higher composite score by not taking it?

If you retake the ACT and get a higher score on certain parts?

Do they take the highest of all the parts of the test from both times you tested or just your highest composite score? So like if the first time i took it i scored highest on math but scored low on english, and the second time i took it i scored the highest on english or reading, but didnt do so hot on math; would they combine my good scores from both times or just look at composite?

Vanderbilt chances of acceptance?

Hey, I’m just finishing up my junior year and I just wanted to know if I’m on track to getting accepted into Vandy…My best scores on the SAT are 720-CR 660-M 690-W, I have an ACT composite score of 30, plan on SAT subject tests in the fall, 3 AP courses, and have a 3.9 unweighted GPA (top 10% of a class of about 400 boys) at a top tier high school. I will have played on the football team for 4 years (Varsity for 2), have run track for 3 (JV), and have played intramural basketball for 2. I am also a member of the Big Brothers program along with some other minor community service activities outside of school (tutoring, volunteering at a daycare, etc.), a member of the National Honors Society and Spanish Honors Society, and will be a Senior Class Leader next year (help w/ school events and programs & manage a freshman homeroom). I have also just started a job working 10-20 hrs/wk. Basically, I just want an honest assessment of my chances and/or what I need to improve my chances

I got a really low ACT Score from the last time I took it, Should I retake it again?

Well, I took my second time for the ACT Test on September 13,2008 and I just received my score which is a composite score of 17!! I’m thinking about retaking this test for the third time because I don’t want to apply for college with a 17 on the ACT. The next test date would be October 25, 2008, I have about a month to prepare and study for this test. However, I’m also register to take 3 SAT Subject Tests which is literature, math level 2, and U.S. History on November. So, I will need to study for those too. I want to apply to 3 UC Schools this year, I don’t think I will get accepted if I apply with a 17 on the ACT Exam. Is it still possible for me to get in UC Schools such as UCSB, UCI, and UC Riverside with a 17 on the ACT? Which test score is more important, the SAT Subjects or the ACT?? Should I retake the ACT Test for the third time? Is it worth it?? I’m going to have to study for both tests at the same time.
Oh..my first time taking the ACT Test composite score was only a 15 so I did improve 2 points higher this time. But, still I want to improve it up to at least a 20 because I really want to attend CSU Long Beach and their average ACT Composite score last year was a 22.

ACT score question…..?

hi (:

I have a question about my ACT test scores that I recently got in the mail…my scores said I got a composite score of 33 and a 10 on the essay…and I really don’t know all that much about ACT scores and all, so I’m a bit confused. So I was just wondering, are those good, bad, average, etc, scores?
It broke down like this…I got a 34 on English, 33 on Math, 30 on Reading, and 33 on Science. I am really confused…the ACT test is scored so much differently than the SAT’s. =/

Anyways, to give you a little background info, I’m currently a freshman in high school (and I only went to take the test to get a feel for it, just so that I’ll know what to expect when I take it for real as a junior/senior). My lifelong goal since FOREVER has been to get into an Ivy League school. Princeton or Cornell would be my dream…anyways, so with those scores right now, would you say I’m on track? Or do I have a long way to go…or no chance at all?

Once again, I really don’t understand the ACT scoring process at all, so if someone could explain that a bit, it would be immensely helpful :D
Oh, and if you have any more tips for getting into Ivy Leagues, etc, that would be very helpful as well! (like GPA-wise, and how many APs and extra curricular activities to take on) Thanks :D

College, SAT, ACT questions? Please answer?

okay I’m a junior in high school and I got a 29 composite score on the ACt. I got a 10 out of 12 on the essay portion. Math: 29
ENglish:30 Reading :30 combined english and writing was a 30

I am interested in colleges like NYU, suny bingamton, unc chapel hill, UCLA, University of pittsburgh, john hopkins, UT-AUstin and the university of pennsylvania

i am in the top ten students of my class out of 420 students. I have extracurriculars. On the SAT I got a 1780 but CR+Math I got 1200 combined. Should I retake the SAT and ACT each one time over again? I am taking two subject tests in june: most likely history and bio or math. If i take the ACT i will take it in september and if I take the SAT i will take it in october? Does that sound like a good plan? I don’t want to take too many tests in may or june because I am taking 4 AP exams in May, I am taking my road test afterwards in May and in June I have 3 regents exams to take. I’m from NY and I want to major in nursing. Are the subject tests I listed good ones to take?
