How much should I get paid as a math tutor?

Hi~

I will tutor a high school student (10th grade) on Math subject
(Algebra 2, SAT Math preparation).

And I am a junior in UC Irvine and have a major in chemistry.

My question is how much I should get paid as a math tutor!

Chapman/UCI/UC Riverside?

Hello,

I am interested in Chapman University (Orange Campus), UC Riverside and UCI. My GPA right now is sitting around 3.48 (which is not good), but I do have one more semester left of my junior year to bump it up a bit.

I am currently taking all College Prep Courses:

-PreCalc
-AP US History
-Spanish 2
-Chemistry
-English III
-Basketball

I do have work experience and am working on getting my letters of rec.

I did not take my SAT/ACT yet, I am taking them in a few months.

With good SAT/ACT scores, would it be possible to get into one of these schools? I would like honest opinions, preferably from students who got accepted or admission officers. If anyone has any suggestions of what I can do as of now to improve my chances, please, let me know.

Thank you for the time.

Best Regards!
Also interested in UCSD and UCD. Forgot to include those, sorry.
I am a California resident. Thank you for asking me to clarify.

Chemistry SAT Subject Tests?

Does anywhere know where I could a practice SAT Chemistry Subject Full-test for free. The books only give 4-5 practice tests =/..Any idea for any sites that have free sat chem practice exams online?

What did you do to study for the SAT/SAT IIs?

Only those who scored a 2000+ please.
Ill be taking the SAT and SAT II Chemistry and Literature this coming March, April, May, and June.
I have already begun studying out of books and using practice tests, although if you have any preparation tricks thatd be wonderful.
Thanks. :]

I am going to be a junior next year and I am PETRIFIED of the SAT.?

I am going to be taking the SAT II math, chemistry, and maybe physics. I am aspiring to become a pharmacist. All throughout my high school career I have been a good student, I have received all As in my classes and I did especially well in Chemistry, Algebra I and II, and Geometry (which I received a 99% average). But I am afraid that I may have forgotten most of Geometry (since I took it in such a short period of time at a summer class covering a years worth of geometry in 5 weeks) and some formulas in Chemistry. I am pretty sure I will do fine in physics because I am great with formulas and math so I am considering taking the Physics II test. I really want to get a 2000+ score, now I know that is not a walk in the park and it requires months of prepping. What is the best way to prep? Should I get a tutor or take prep classes? My parents don’t mind the money and really are pressuring me to get a high score and I am afraid that me forgetting much of geometry might ruin that. I catch on really quickly and I can remember stuff so I think private tutoring of predatory classes might help. Which would help me better to receive my scores? Oh and I am also taking English of course but I always did well with english.

How many SAT Subject tests can you take per day?

I want to take the Japanese with Listening test and either Biology or Chemistry (two in total) in November. I’m Japanese and I am fluent in Japanese so I’m basically not going to study for the Japanese with Listening test since it’s so easy for me, since I saw some example questions online. I also want to take Biology or Chemisty on that day just for the heck of it, also since it is good timing. Can I do that?
Oh and by the way, I am taking Biology and Chemistry this year as a sophomore and I’m doing fine in both classes (A- and A-)

SAT and SAT subject tests preparation?

Hi, I live in the UK and am seriously considering going to college in the US. I know I will have to take the SATs and was wondering:
a. How do they compare to A-Levels? I need to take Maths II and a science SAT for the places I’m interested in. How do these compare to AS level sciences and maths? I have looked on the collegeboard website but it is hard to judge from the limited number of questions.
b. What (if any) study guides people would recommend? — for the reasoning SAT as well as the subject tests.

I would really appreciate answers from people in the UK who have taken the SATs particularly Maths II, Physics or chemistry and studied these saubjects at A-level. But any opinions from people who’ve taken the tests would be great. Thanks =)

SAT + SAT II Test Preparation?

I am going to take the SAT test soon.
To prepare for it, I’m thinking to buy the "The Official SAT Study Guide (TM)" and enroll in its online course, "The Official SAT Online Courseā„¢" (both by Collegeboard)..
I’m just wondering – has anyone tried the book and is it a good prep book? Also, anyone tried the online course? Does the online course prepare you well for the test? Is it worth its price?
Or do I have to take like real Saturday classes in order to do well on SAT?

For SAT II subject test, I’m planning to take Math, but I have no idea whether to take Math I or Math II. Is Math II a lot harder than Math I? What’s a good book to prepare me for either?
I might also take Chemistry. Is SAT II for Chemistry hard? Any book recommendation?

Only serious inputs please.
Thank you and good day.

Homeschooling and Going to College?

Okay, we’ve reached that point where mom and I are doing some final organization of transcripts and such in preparation for college. I’ve got my SAT scores (1930! Woot!) and I’ll be duel enrolling next year, so I’ll have a transcript from that college. I’ll also be taking the ACT some time next fall.

Here’s the deal…

We put a lot of emphasis on mastery (as apposed to just squeaking by with a near-flunking grade) when it comes to school, so we worked out a system where I never move on to a new topic, concept, or level of difficulty until I’ve completely mastered the previous one, or in public scool lingo, until I have a 100% "A". So for example, I wouldn’t start studying molecules in Chemistry until I’ve mastered the atom. We determine mastery through tests, projects/presentations on the topic, or written essays, or any combination. Naturally, my "grades" are perfect…because I was in it to learn, not to squeak by just barely knowing the material.
Here’s the question…

What do we put on my transcript? Grades would be all A’s, a 4.0 across the board, but should we include an explanation of what we did? Should we mark down how much time was spent on each subject? Should we just leave it looking like a standard transcript and let my test scores and grades from the community college speak for themselves? HELP!!!
