Alrighty, now here’s the deal. I took my ACT back in April and scored a 27 on it. From what I understand, that’s a pretty respectable score. However, I took the most recent SAT and scored a composite of 1790.

After comparing statistics of the two tests, I’m led to believe that I have done considerably worse than on my ACT. Am I wrong or am I right? If so, please give me some advice as how to I can improve my scores (ACT: Math – 27 ; Reading – 23 ; Science – 29 ; Writing – 31 ~ SAT: Reading – 580 ; Math – 590 ; Writing – 620)

Also, I sent my SAT scores to four colleges under the impression that I did well. I sent them to LSU, Texas A&M, Tulane, and Baylor. Will they laugh at me and turn me down at first glance because of these scores???

I’m taking the SAT and the ACT in eighth grade (as part of the Midwest academic talent search) pretty soon (Jan. 23 & feb. 6) and I was wondering what the average score was? I took a practice SAT test and got 1735, is that good or bad?

I bought a Kaplan book/program thing ect. ect. & I plan to take it March 14, 2009. I took the diagnostic test w/o cracking open the book & these were my results:

Critical Reading – 440 (a surprise…I’m pretty good at reading)
Math – 450 (even bigger surprise…I suck at math!)
Writing – 610 (woot woot! no surprise there at all!)
Total :1500!

I know I can improve, in fact, I WANT to improve. But I’m asking, for a starting test, is this okay? And do you think I’ll do this good on the real thing?
I’m kinda dissapointed by my reading, math I’m okay (for now), but writing I’m proud of myself.

I am going to be a junior in August. I took a prep course for SAT & they tested me. I did really bad. My critical reading was around 400s, writing around 500s, math around 400s. They gave me another test after the course. i scored 300s on reading, 400s on writing, 500s on math. Should i be worried? i have a 4.0 gpa and do really good in school. will i improve by the end of my junior year? what can i do to improve the scores?

aight, i have like a 4.2 weighted gpa, about 600 volunteer hours, im in an a lot of clubs inc. key & csf. i speak like 3 languages fluently and i play 2 instruments in a professional orchestra. but heres what hurts me, my sat score is pretty sucky, its like an 1800 (practice tests).

what are my chances of getting into:
1) UCLA
2) UC Berkeley
3) Harvard/Princeton

and also, how do i improve my sat scores, im taking the test on saturday lol
any help is appreciated, thanks!!

My niece is a sophomore in H.S. For the last half of her freshman year & now this school year her grades have taken a nosedive. From A/B student to C-F student, even in favorite subjects.

Otherwise, she acts like a typical teenager. She attributes her grades to ‘the teachers don’t know how to teach.’ And during a parent teacher conference we did notice a few of the teachers had an ‘attitude’ towards her, giving the impression my niece is a smart aleck which she can be. She also seems to have no interest in her grades whatsoever. Her parents don’t think any drugs/alcohol are involved but I’ve advised them to do a urine test just in case, which they refuse.

Her parents nor I can afford tutoring. They did try tutoring through the school with one of the ‘attitude’ teachers but that didn’t improve any grades and left her more resentful towards the teacher. We’ve tried helping with homework have forgotten most of these subjects, it’s pretty much all greek to us.

Her parents will be taking her out of any honors classes for next year. Her one passion at home is music and she can spend hours at it. My brother wants to punish her for bad grades but does not know how to punish her, and does not want to take away the one thing she is showing an interest in. He’s scared taking away the music thing will backfire. Any suggestions?

To start off, I am considering the Naval Academy, the Merchant Marine Academy, Texas A&M, and Georgia Tech for college. The first time I took the SAT, I got 750 for reading, 620 for math, and 680 for writing. I wanted to try and improve my math score, so I signed up to take the test again. However, I started getting sick a few days ago, and when I took the test this morning, I wasn’t completely lucid. I feel like I did much better on math this time – I expect to be in the 700s. Unfortunately, I accidentally skipped over 5-10 questions on a reading section. I think I would have gotten slightly lower than 750 even if I hadn’t skipped those questions, because I was sick and not thinking as well (I would guess a 700). My question is, since I probably scored significantly lower on the reading section, should I invalidate my scores? Will I ever have an opportunity to explain that I was sick? And would it be worth keeping the poor reading score for a superior math score?

Hi, I’m a Sophomore in High school (Oregon). Today I was talking with my mom about my future and college. Since my family really can’t afford to send me to college I have to get a Scholarship no matter what.
In my Freshman yr, which I heard was just as important as Senior yr I kinda screwed up. I got As & Bs but I think I got a C in Algebra and I’m retaking it. Right now I am taking AP History
So the question is how do I get a scholarship? I’m a normal student with average grades. I’m taking golf as a sport also I know that the SATs are very very important.
The school I want to go to is Oregon State University. Is a university a good place to learn how to be a graphic designer? Because my dream job is to be a Graphic Designer. Please help me. I really really want to go to college and I’m not very special in school. I’m a average student !

My Math Plan – In Junior yr I’m going to take Geometry & Algebra 2, so that in Senior yr I can take the next math course which is… I don’t remember. Can you tell me :}
Also how can I study for my SATs and are there any good Pre-SAT online tests I can take?
