I took the ACT for the first time the end of my junior year. I got an 18. I bombed the math and science part, but did great in reading, writing, and English. I’m taking it again in October, and in December. I’m aiming for a 21 the second time, and a 23 the third time. I am getting tutoring 2 times a week on top of teachers helping me everyday at school. I bought the ACT practice book and have been doing problems in the book and online on the ACT test. Is it really true that students improve their score the second time taking the test?

I just got my scores for the ACT test that I took in October 2009. I took the test for the first time back in June 2009. Here are a comparison of my scores:

June ’09
E – 25
M – 28
R – 23
S – 26
Comp. = 26

October ’09
E – 28
M – 27
R – 22
S – 27
Comp. = 26

I am wondering if I should attempt to take the test a 3rd time or not? The only concern I have is that I am a senior this school year, and was told that the last ACT test you could take to try and improve your scores for scholarship applications on was this October test. Now that I have gotten my scores, is there any reason to take the test again? Will it benefit me in any way? Will they even consider these scores for anything?

Okay I have a month until I take the ACT test but I have school with hard classes this year. I’m getting scared because it’s my first time taking it. I want some strategies on the Reading and Math section. Like do I read the whole passage in the reading section and then answer the questions. And won’t that waste my time? What’s a better and faster way of doing it instead of scanning the whole thing? How do I start in the reading section? ect.. Will the people who gives the test tell us when we have like 5 minutes left? I read that they r not required to do that! And I’m also scared of Math. I’m trying to get like a 21 on the ACT test!
Oh I’m currently taking practice tests for it.
And is it hard to get a 21?

I am taking the ACT test next month for the 3rd time. My English has improved but my Math, Reading, and Science I am having trouble with. Here are the problems:

English: I have a score of 27. I want to bring it up to a 34-36 range. How can I do that?

Math: I have trouble with the Trigonometry/Geometry questions but I seem to so fine with the Algebra. What can I do besides getting a tutor? I have the Real ACT prep book, Barron’s, and Princeton Review. What others would you suggest? How can I improve my score from a 20 to at least 25-28 range? How can I do that?

Reading: I currently have a 22 on the reading. How do I go about doing the passages efficiently? I have heard read the passages first then do the questions and go back to the passage if you can’t find the answer. I have also heard read the questions first then read the passage. Which one is faster? How can I understand the passages even if they are boring? I really need to raise my score to a least 27-30 range. What should I do?

Science: I currently a 18 on the Science. How do I study for the science part? How can I do it fast without missing a lot? I would like at least a 26-30 range. What can I do?

Please help me. I am not sure how to study these. Thank you.

I took the ACT Test and didn’t pass Elementary Algebra. My question is, since I don’t want to take remedial classes. Can I prepare myself and just take the ACT again for math? Because I don’t want to have a 096 course on my transcript. Does having a remedial class on my transcript affects my chances of getting into a good school?

I took the ACT test last year and got a pretty good score of 30. I’m probably going to take it again by the end of this school year, but I’m a bit unsure of how sending the score will work.

When I took it last year, I had no idea what colleges I wanted to attend and so I basically sent my score report to random ones. Now, this year, I have a better idea of what college I want to go to. Although I realize that only your best test score counts, the ACT web site says that only your score report for your specific test date will be sent to the colleges you choose. So, say I get a lower score on the ACT this time around and my score is sent to the new colleges I have chosen. Will they be able to only see this score, or will they also see that I scored a 30 last time?

I know, slightly confusing, but I am confused myself. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I have to pass on either one of these in order to get into a class this fall. I have 3 weeks till the date to take a residual ACT test, so little time to study. I have 6 weeks to study for the CLEP if I would do the college algebra exam (which is harder but I have more time).
What would be easier considering the respective time frames? I have a only algebra experience in high school which I did fine in, but no higher math than that. I’ve been out of highschool 3 yrs. Thanks for your help

ok so it was my first time to take the ACT test, and i graduated high school, in 2009, and my GPA was a B (3.0-3.4) and I’m currently a freshman in college. I’m only taking my basics for now, but I want to go to The Dallas Nursing Institute, BUT you have to have at least a 19 on the ACT… so is having an 18 on the ACT a bad score? I got a 20 on English, a 16 in Mathematics (i really suck in math. I’ve always struggled with it), a 17 in Reading (I’m good in reading, but I kind of rushed through the whole 45 minutes that they gave us on the test, so I think this is where I messed up :/ ), and a 20 in Science (I suck in science as well). My Writing scores haven’t came in yet… but I really want to go to this school and the only way to retest is NEXT year I don’t want to wait that long… Help me because I getting kind of depressed… ugh!

Would I take the ACT test at my school, (which is in another town) or at my local district school?

Or is it assigned randomly which school your going to take it at.

Do you have a choice where you want to take it?
