Is it bad to not study for the SATs?
I am in 11th grade now, and I’m taking the SATs for the first time next Saturday (March 13). I haven’t taken any classes, read any books, etc. in preparation for it. I took the PSAT once in 10th grade and once in 11th grade.
For the 11th grade one, I got 79 percentile for critical reading, 54 percentile for math, and 86 percentile in writing skills.
My theory is that people did well on the SATs BEFORE preparing for it was even a thought in the school system. And anyway, they raised the perfect score from 1600 to 2400 because they added another writing section, which is what I’m best at anyway.
PS. If you’re going to be mean to me and be like "WOW WHAT A F***ING DUMBA** YOU SHOULD HAVE STUDIED WOWOWOWOWOW STUUUUUUPID" then just gtfo because I’m looking for people with constructive opinions.
Bottom line: Is it bad that I haven’t studied? I went to PSAT prep classes, but not SAT ones. I figured that I took the PSATs so I know the format, just a shorter version. This test is basically a crapshoot anyway, and I can take it again in May.

Uhm…wow you seem very bright my friend.
From your scores I’d say at least study some Math(its a problem area for lots of people) so you can try to bring that up. You should also just do some reviews of things in reading & writing. But try to study some extra mathematics if you can.
Also, take a practice test before & check your answers to see where you are holding up & if you want to change a/t.
By the looks of it though, you seem alright.
Ps- everyone is different in how they prepare. Everyone knows what they need to aim high & what they don’t.
Good Luck my friend!!!!!!!! I’d like to know how you do!

Hello my freind,
always use numbers and the letters wont be as cocnfusing:)
I too am taking the SATs on March 13th..from your PSAT scores i think you have a great trasp on the genral SAT..ummmm i would say its always better to study ( like the vocab lists and little tricks for solving what appears to be hard problems but arnt really) ..but remember this: for the SAT the math only goes up to ..basic algebra 2..shockingly simple stuff..the problem is the context of it is in a tricky format..that often uses a lot of variables like xs and ys and such without much numbers..for the math a main tool is to plug in fake numbers
Your reading/writing on the psat was phenomenal:) the only tip i can give you for that is to get a prep book of some sort and memorize some vocab/roots of words:)
but i mean you still have time to retake it if yo udont like your score so dont sweat it! lots of people dont really study the first time they take it and still do just fine!
good luck to you! im so nervous about mine…:o lol
